Jim and Kathy Buck started Kellbran Candies in September of 1989.  The name originated from our 2 children, Kellie and Brandon. Brandon currently oversees the daily production and operations at the factory.

Previous to owning KellBran, our careers were in selling real estate and simultaneously working for Jim’s grandparents’ candy manufacturing business for 17 years. 

Jim and Kathy learned all the essentials on how to manufacture candies like old-fashioned stick candy, peanut butter fingers, hard candy and suckers, mint puffs, peanut brittle, and cashew brittle.  This brought a wealth of knowledge for the beginning of KellBran Candies & Snacks.

We started our journey in a 1300 square foot facility manufacturing just brittles for two years, but quickly outgrew that building and moved into a larger 3300 square foot building, where we expanded our product line to include our famous butter Caramelcorn, Sweet and Salty Popcorn (cheesy caramel corn mix), Brandon’s Cheesy Cheesecorn, and other popcorns. At the same time, we began making an assortment of chocolate items along with other chocolate add-ons like drizzling popcorns with chocolate.

Then, it happened again. We outgrew that facility and began construction on our own building in Akron, spanning 7000 square feet to start.  We then filled that space and 5 years later added an additional 3200 square feet.

Our early years were formed by wholesale candy and snack shows in Texas, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and more.  It is from those that we went on to perfect our other avenues of:

  • private label contracting

  • specialty product development for customers

  • fundraising programs

  • corporate gifts

  • gift baskets

Today, we have the capabilities of mass-producing many items while maintaining the quality and standards that we started within our products and business.
